Welcome, Friends!Welcome to the first issue of Between Friends! We hope you enjoy this occasional publication about Friends of Georgia Libraries and FOGL activities. Please let us know if you have ideas for articles, want to brag on something your group is doing, or have news or photos you’d like to share with all Georgia’s library Friends. Library Day at the State Capitol was a chance for Friends, trustees, and library staff to meet with Georgia Senators and Representatives. The theme for the day, “Georgia’s Libraries Build Communities,” was reinforced by construction “hardhats.” Pictured here are (l to r) Friend of the Lithonia Library Patricia Robinson, FOGL President Jenny McCurdy, State Representative Randal Mangham, and FOGL Board Member Mary Lee Davis. |
Book Sale BonanzaFOGL has set its Annual General Meeting for Friday, April 20th, in Columbus, GA at the NEW Columbus Library. We will be learning best practices for book sales from those who’ve had success with them! As a part of the program, a rare book dealer will be on hand to help attendees recognize and price rare books (a sort of Rare Book Roadshow). Participants are invited to bring up to three books for appraisal. Your Friends may own a true gem! Watch the FOGL Web site (www.georgia-friends.org) for details and a registration form. If your Friends group would like to advertise their book sales on the Web, check out this web site: http://www.booksalefinder.com But, beware—it will bring book resellers to your sales. You may or may not want them! Are You A FOGL Member? If not, now is the time to join for 2007! Simply go to the FOGL Web site, www.georgia-friends.org, print the membership form, and mail with your check. Individual dues are only $10 per year, so stay connected! Quick Tips for Friends
